Something special is taking shape in Griffith.
Lake Gardens is a new residential community in Lake Wyangan — thoughtfully planned by JZ Homes and now moving into its next exciting chapter.
We’re excited to start sharing more about what’s to come.
One of the first ideas we’re proud to introduce is a series of pocket parks — small green spaces designed to bring everyday moments of nature, calm and connection to the neighbourhood.
This concept was developed in collaboration with Tract, a national landscape architecture firm engaged by JZ Homes to support the subdivision design and create tailored landscape guidelines for the project. It was further researched and refined by Sofia from our design team, who has thoughtfully considered how these spaces can deliver lasting benefits to the people who will call Lake Gardens home.
Why Pocket Parks?
Because they make a real difference to how we live.
They’re a smart and sustainable response to growing neighbourhoods — bringing nature into our streetscapes and transforming small spaces into valuable, usable places for everyone. Research shows they can reduce stress, support mental and physical wellbeing, and strengthen the bonds between neighbours.
Pocket Parks:
- Help reduce feelings of stress and depression through access to nature
- Create places to walk, ride, or simply sit in the fresh air
- Support biodiversity and reduce urban heat
- Encourage community connection — and joy — in daily life
Our proposal features layered native landscaping, shared spaces that are easily accessible and maintainable, and pathways that accommodate both movement and stillness. Everything is designed with care, so these spaces not only look beautiful, but work beautifully too.
What's Next?
James and Zep recently met with senior management at Griffith City Council to present this new concept and the supporting research.
The ideas were warmly received, and we’ll now be working closely with Council to finalise the proposal and details to ensure it meets Council’s masterplan and ongoing maintenance plan before moving into the next stages of approval process.
This is just the beginning — and we’re so proud of what’s to come.
